about

Los-Angeles based producer, multi-instrumentalist, singer, and emcee Calvin Valentine has already become a music veteran despite his youth, producing for legends like De La Soul, Nas, and more recently - Disney Star / Interscope signee Ryan Beatty. This summer, he lends his lush production, singing, and rhymes to his Mello Music Group solo debut album, Keep Summer Safe, set for release on September 14th. In anticipation, today he shares first album single “911 Turbo” - a stoney track that mixes chilled out R&B and melodic hip-hop vibes.

Calvin (aka the Bong Mayer) had licensed music for Skype, MTV, Aids Awareness Campaigns, and more with a sound that lends itself to film and television. But the west coast musician is best known in the beat scene for his uncompromising work behind the boards. The Eugene, Oregon native began playing drums at age 6 - and by 19, he was playing Warped Tour with his band Medium Troy. In addition for producing for big industry names, he’s also worked with the likes of Bun B, Devin The Dude, Juicy J, Boogie, and Dilla’s younger brother, Illa J. His 2016 album, Eugene, was the first major stark declaration of his singular talent; the work of an artist fiercely aware of what made him, who is is, what he loves, and where he’s going.

Keep Summer Safe promises to be Calvin’s most ambitious work to date; a summer night stoney hip-hop classic - proving that he is one of this generation’s new multi-talented breeds. Be sure to stay tuned for more from Calvin Valentine!

intro:

VERSE 1:

I don't have street cred ..i'm hard to work with, worthless, a asshole I said i'm not worth shit/
I put the work in/
Made it perfect/
Herb lit, locked in Ollie up the curb smooth as cursive/
Curses/
calvy p popping, polo rocking , solo options, few album deals thousands for the feature keep it locked in/
Jumped out the coupe Jaylon whipped like his own/ 150 played in the rarri I felt I was home/
Telly on the mobile phone tell us where to get the alkaline/
Smoked pounds police principle said i'm out my mind/
Outer pocket gold stitched patch outta line out of product
Outta state out the gate
Maureen Ponderosa Pine/
Smoking on the coast and I'm/
Living my life I manifested through rhyme/
Japanese denim on the kicks
Tokyo on face time/
Gel lyte 3's light trees and get to open my mind/
You've never seen a mother (woo) quite like I'm/
Tiger style since a child hobbes calvin and Klein/
Inclined to carry this torch untill i'm torchin the kine/
She read my fortune in the Porsche at an unfortunate times /

HOOK:
Used to be the one that they would call but i'm off that/
Used to be the one that did it all now I fall back/
I once scene man switch up quick on the come up/
Acting like those number are Legit when they run up/
No longer am I down for it /
I won't be around for it/
Cause I'ma grab my bags in the morning/
And i'm going ride/
ride/

VERSE 2:

Big bag of weed I love my tree/
That's just how it be I'm from Eugene/
